Amy Alcott & Friends Women’s Clinic and Luncheon to Highlight Golf for Women in Business, Give Back to Upstate SC

(GREENVILLE, S.C.) – May 9, 2022
The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX is pleased to announce the inaugural Amy Alcott & Friends Women’s Clinic and Luncheon. This special event will be held June 8th at The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg leading up to the 2022 tournament, which will take place June 6-12 at Thornblade Club and The Carolina Country Club.

The event will feature a special keynote by LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Amy Alcott as well as an inspirational panel highlighting the importance of golf for women in business. Alcott will be joined by Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin, sports radio and television personality Ann Liguori, former world long drive champion Troy Mullins, and Vice President of Government Affairs for Michelin North America Sheryl Wilkerson. Golf Channel personality Lauren Thompson will moderate the panel discussion.

The event will kick-off with mingling, mimosas and shopping, followed by a seated luncheon and program. The day’s activities will conclude with a special golf clinic on The Carolina Country Club driving range where attendees will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from 2022 tournament celebrities. Instruction will be available for all levels, and beginners are encouraged to participate.

“The 2022 BMW Charity Pro-Am features an exceptional field of female celebrity golfers, and we are excited for the community to join us for education, important conversations, and fun as part of this inaugural event,” said Max Metcalf, manager of government and community relations at BMW Manufacturing and secretary/treasurer of South Carolina Charities, Inc. “With insights from the legendary Amy Alcott and additional renowned golf personalities and business executives, we hope to have a lasting impact on women’s golf in the upstate.”

A highly celebrated and well-respected champion of the game both on and off the course, Alcott is a member of both the LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame. She is recognized as the LPGA’s finest and most creative shot-maker and for her go-for-the-pin style of play, which was the bedrock for 32 professional tournaments captured worldwide including five major championships.

Proceeds from the Amy Alcott & Friends Women’s Clinic and Luncheon will support the girl’s golf program at Gettys D. Broome High School in eastern Spartanburg. A small high school serving roughly 800 students in Cowpens and Pacolet, Broome High School launched a girl’s golf team during the 2021-2022 school year. Event proceeds will support additional equipment needs as the program grows while helping overcome barriers to participation.
