Dr. David Jolson Joins Medical Team for Holowesko|Citadel Cycling

January 29, 2018

Dr. David Jolson, chiropractor at Upstate Spine & Sport, has joined the medical team of Holowesko|Citadel cycling led by George Hincapie, winner of three U.S. National Road Race championships and a 17-time participant in the Tour de France.

With a deep background in sports performance medicine, Jolson was brought on board to assist team members in avoiding injury, relieving pain and improving their performance utilizing a combination of sports rehabilitation and chiropractic care.

“I’ve enjoyed working with David as he has assisted me through some of my injuries,” Hincapie said. “He will be an asset to our team at home and on the road.”

Jolson’s innovative approach caught the eye of the team’s chief sports director, Thomas Craven, who personally sought a clinician in South Carolina certified in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization. DNS is a breakthrough approach to chiropractic care and physiotherapy involving muscles, joints, discs, nerves and soft tissues.

Jolson is the only health, fitness and sports professional in South Carolina certified in DNS exercise by the Prague School of Rehabilitation in Prague, Czech Republic. Jolson was invited to join the Holowesko|Citadel medical team after treating Craven and Hincapie. His primary role will be in the assessment and treatment of challenging musculoskeletal cases.

“I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to join the Hincapie medical team,” Jolson said. “I’m looking forward to working with the other clinicians to help the team perform at their best. It’s a privilege to be a part of an organization that cares so deeply about Greenville and the Upstate community.”

Hincapie, general manager of Holowesko|Citadel, competed in a record 17 Ronde van Vlaanderen races and finished second at the grueling Paris-Roubaix during his 19-year professional career. Holowesko|Citadel is owned by Hincapie’s brother, Rich.

The 16-member team opened training camp Jan. 21 in Greenville with a slate of races scheduled in 2018 that will take them across the U.S. as well as France, South America, Great Britain, Croatia and Canada. Jolson will work with the team locally and travel to races primarily in the Southeastern United States.

Jolson and his wife, Fran Haas Jolson, L.Ac, opened Upstate Spine & Sport in November offering an approach to medical care that can provide immediate and long-term relief without surgery, injections or prescription drugs. Their medical practice located at 110 Laurens Road in Greenville offers treatments ranging from chiropractic care and acupuncture to sports rehabilitation and soft-tissue massage.
